In previous blogs, Erry de Boer, CEO of Eqeep, shared his vision on the impact of AI within finance, operations, and sales & marketing. But before you dive into all these possibilities, there’s one crucial question: is your organization ready for it? In this concluding blog, Erry looks at the reality of AI implementation.
Where do organizations really stand now?
AI is hot, there’s no denying that. Research by Gartner shows that Dutch CIOs expect a 43% investment growth in generative AI this year. At the same time, the reality is that many companies are still hesitant about AI investments. They follow the trends but want to see proof first. How do you integrate it with your existing software? How does it work in practice? This cautious attitude is understandable – no one wants to invest in technology that doesn’t align with daily reality.
How to prevent a false start
Many organizations follow AI developments with great interest. They see the possibilities and potential. Mind you: there’s a big ‘but’: without a solid foundation, you can’t build a stable house. Before you start with AI, you must first critically examine your data. Is your data complete and reliable? Are your records accurate? And are your data current and consistent across all systems? When this is in order, it’s time to critically evaluate your processes. Are there many exceptions, or do you mainly work with standardized processes? It doesn’t have to be 100% perfect, but without a good foundation, AI becomes a disinvestment.
Successful implementations therefore always start with thorough data cleaning and process optimization. Otherwise, you put yourself at a disadvantage, with a negative experience as the result.
Start with the basics today
There are plenty of examples of organizations that have already successfully started working with AI. Their secret? They first tackle the core: the data. Only then come the advanced applications we discussed in the previous blogs.
