Growing in ERP consulting: Experiences of trainees in the Young Talent Program

Have you just graduated and want to jumpstart your career in ERP consulting? Eqeep’s Young Talent Program offers young talent the chance to gain work experience in a dynamic environment. Rick de Jong, our HR manager wrote a blog about this earlier. But what do our trainees think? In this article Anne Sileon, Tayyip Güney and Emmanuel Joseph talk about their experiences with this program and their future plans.

Why the Young Talent Program?

Tayyip starts off: “I received a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Yildiz Technical University in Turkey and came to the Netherlands three years ago. I was familiar with ERP systems, but did not have much experience. Eqeep’s Young Talent Program seemed like a great opportunity for me to gain experience in ERP consulting in a learning environment. During the interview, I immediately felt at ease. Everything was explained very clearly, and all my questions were answered. That made me confident about a future at Eqeep from the very first moment.”

Anne concurs: “During my studies, I took a mid-term semester due to COVID-19. I ended up at a company where I was working with an ERP consultant. His work fascinated me immensely. In April, while looking for a final internship, I came in contact with Eqeep at the Career Fair of the HAN in Arnhem. There I spoke with Marian van Doormalen, who spoke super enthusiastically about her work at Eqeep. When the Young Talent Program came up, I applied immediately.”

Emmanuel came into contact with traineeships through an internship platform: “At that time I didn’t know the concept yet, but it is just like an internship program, only you are employed by the company and it is meant for recent graduates. When I came across Eqeep’s traineeship, I immediately got excited. The description of the program was comprehensive and clear, and the focus on finance and ERP attracted me tremendously.”

The valuable skills you develop

The program offers intensive training, where theory and practice go hand in hand.

Tayyip explains: “In the past three months, I have learned a lot about IFS and working with systems. I have also gained valuable insights into project management and customer service. In addition, working in a Dutch working environment has also taught me a lot about the culture here.”

Anne adds: “At Eqeep, you get plenty of opportunities to apply your theoretical knowledge while further developing your soft skills through various workshops. Some skills I found challenging before, but thanks to regular practice and personal guidance, I feel increasingly confident.”

For Emmanuel, the value of the traineeship lies mainly in learning about ERP systems: “As a student, you don’t easily encounter them. Now I am learning how the applications work and what role ERP is playing in organizations. I also learned a lot about the consulting profession, such as the difference between functional and technical consulting.”

A look at the future

All three trainees have their own ambitions but you bconsider Eqeep as an important step in their careers.

Tayyip wants to further develop his skills to help companies and improve their processes. “In the future, I see myself managing large projects as a project manager, and at Eqeep I get the training and support I need for that.”

Anne sees plenty of opportunities to further develop her passion for ERP and consulting at Eqeep. “Currently I’m focusing on the financial part, something I find incredibly interesting. I look forward to learning a lot from my colleagues and developing an additional specialization in the coming years. In the long term, I also think it would be interesting to delve further into project management.”

Emmanuel also has great plans for the future: “The finance part that Anne is talking about really appeals to me, especially since finance was an important part of my Business Administration study. At Eqeep, as a starting consultant, I hope to learn a lot from the experienced colleagues and become more and more independent, step by step. In time I hope to grow to senior consultant within Eqeep. I also see myself working on large projects, and perhaps even international assignments.”

A must for young talent

All trainees highly recommend the Young Talent Program.

Anne sees the Young Talent Program as the perfect opportunity to give her career a flying start: “For me, as a starter, this is a great opportunity to enter the consultancy, and the ERP world. You learn a lot here and can put everything into practice straight away.”

Tayyip sees consulting as a great opportunity to learn about different companies and processes: “As a consultant, you work with all kinds of companies and systems, and that is very valuable, especially if you are at the beginning of your career.”

Emmanuel recommends the program for anyone just starting out: “If you are just out of school and are curious and eager to learn, this is a perfect opportunity. During the traineeship you build your skills gradually, allowing you to experiment and grow safely. You get a lot of support and guidance, which is ideal for starters who are at the beginning of their careers.”
