As manager of the Central Support Office at Eqeep, Erik Koevoet plays a key role in streamlining the collaboration between different teams. With his nine years of experience at Eqeep, he has a strong understanding of what makes this company special. In this blog, Erik talks about his career, why he still enjoys the work, and what his life outside of work looks like.
My journey at Eqeep
In November 2015, I started at Eqeep as a functional consultant. I was hired for a specific assignment, but unfortunately it didn’t go through. I used my time well by getting started with IFS’ Field Service Management solution. I then set up an internal timekeeping system. In this way, I brought about a number of process improvements. This led me to the role of manager of the Central Support Office since January 1, 2022. In this role, I coordinate departments such as Finance, HR and IT so that they work together as one cohesive team. My team now includes eight people, and soon we will welcome our ninth colleague.
Why Eqeep?
Before joining Eqeep, I had a job as a Service Manager. When I was ready for a new challenge, I posted a post on LinkedIn, showing my interest in ERP systems, processes and data filling. Within 48 hours, Harm, the then director of Eqeep and an old school friend, was on the phone. A job interview followed and the rest is history. I haven’t regretted it for a day!
A team that really knows each other
Eqeep is a really nice club to work for. I have personally proven that you can grow at Eqeep and show yourself. Although I didn’t become the intended FSM consultant, I now have a role that suits me much better. The great thing about my position is that I know everyone in the company. From the first job interviews to signing their contract, I guide new colleagues through the entire process. After that I take them under my supervision and ensure a good start within our team. Even when someone leaves, I arrange a nice completion: from signing the last documents to handing in their belongings. I know all my 40-45 colleagues personally, which makes my job even more fun.
Work enjoyment and relaxation
Our team is young, close and very social! Not only during lunch breaks, but also outside of work. We go out for dinner together, organize game nights and go on motorcycle rides. The ‘we’ feeling is very strong here. You also notice that when someone is sick: sending a card or getting in touch is very normal here. We were also present with a group of colleagues at the wedding of our colleague Amber. It is therefore no coincidence that people who go and work elsewhere often come back to us. The strong mutual bond just makes working at Eqeep incredibly fun.
Nice work works
What I like about this club is that mistakes are permitted. Preferably not the same ones all the time, but mistakes are part of the game. My motto is: nice work works. If you enjoy your work, you can easily work sixty hours a week. That way it doesn’t take energy, it gives energy. That definitely goes for me: working at Eqeep gives me energy!
Free time: motorcycling and padel
Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my family. I am happily married and have three children aged 18, 22 and 24. Our oldest just left home and we are in the middle of renovating her new home. In my spare time, I like to take a ride on my motorcycle. I have one of those riding seats, a Honda Goldwing with all the features. A big motorcycle with a deep, soft sound. I am a member of the Goldwing Club and if all goes well, I may soon call myself the eleventh president of the club. In the meantime, I can also be found a lot on the padel court, which my colleagues know all about.
