“It’s like designing dreams to get them sold, and that gives me pleasure.”, Meet Patrick!

What do travel and ERP have in common? According to Patrick, in both cases you want to sell dreams. Patrick started as a tour operator in the travel industry, but eventually journeyed to the role of consultant in the ERP industry. With years of experience and dedication, he has now found his place at Eqeep, where, as manager of software developers, he has an important role to play in our ongoing drive for growth and quality. Meet Patrick Lamme!

The technical industry in the world of travel

Born and raised in Utrecht, Patrick started his career in the travel industry after his studies in tourism. He worked for a long time as a tour operator, exploring different aspects of the industry. It was around the year 2000 that his path took an interesting turn when his employer started implementing a new ERP application. With his natural affinity for technology and his willingness to take on new challenges, Patrick soon became a member of the project team. From then on, he transitioned into functional application management. In 2001, Patrick left travel behind and joined another organization to lead the functional management team. Patrick: “I thought this was a great time and I was also introduced to IFS at that time. I eventually became responsible for all forms of integration.”

On the other side of the table

Through his work as a functional application manager, Patrick got to know Eqeep during a project. Patrick: “I then started thinking: why don’t I move to the other side of the table? At that time, Eqeep was looking for someone for SPIE’s project and that’s how we started talking to each other. In 2019 I started as a consultant and since last year I can call myself manager of the developers and Managed Services department. A position that still makes me happy every day.”

“Adding value with my knowledge and experiences”

Patrick: “ Where I used to be on the road a lot, working for big organizations and seeing the whole world, now I like the fact that Eqeep is a smaller company. Previously I did not know more than half of the people, at Eqeep I know everyone and every customer. This creates a whole different dynamic that I really like, just like the horizontal and informal organizational culture. In addition, large organizations very often are more focused on format. Now I can focus much more on the content and really add value with my knowledge and experience.”

Selling dreams; just like in the travel business

For Patrick, helping companies grow is the most important thing in his work. Patrick: “ My most important core value is in our mission statement: We empower organizations to stay ahead in their business! Organizations have a goal or ideal world in mind and we help them on their way to that ideal world. In the travel world I sold dreams and now I still do, which is the dream world of organizations. I get fulfillment from that, as well as from finding ways to do things smarter. By doing things in a smart and innovative way, organizations not only have more time left for other things, but they are always one step ahead of the others.”

“I don’t travel so much at the moment, but I still travel with our customers to their dream destination. And I enjoy that just as much, or even more!” said Patrick. Are you curious how Patrick maps out the road to your dream destination in the ERP world? Then get in touch with him! He likes to help you grow and will gladly tell you what the best path is.
